A Message from the CEO

Dear Customers, Channel Partners, Technology Partners and Colleagues,

We accomplished some great things together in 2016 and are poised for even greater success this year. The stories you will read in this edition of CRITICAL MATTERS® illustrate what lies ahead and I'm excited about it.

We start with groundbreaking news that affects all of us - The Next Generation 9-1-1 Act of 2017. The draft legislation that would make the transition to NG9-1-1 a national priority.

I recently heard a saying that reminds me of who we are as a community that confirms the significance of this legislation. You have to belong to believe. And we do. We all belong to the community of Public Safety, and we all believe in what we do. No matter our role, we are all committed to doing everything possible to save lives and protect property. We are unique.

The draft legislation is a result of dedication and hard work. So many Public Safety organizations and individuals have been striving for this for many years. It is truly a result of belonging and believing. And now, it is a call to action for all of us to bring it to fruition. Brian Fontes, NENA CEO, says it best in our lead story. "9-1-1 professionals must clearly demonstrate a groundswell of support for this legislation to ensure that 9-1-1 is not left behind."

At the home of VESTA®, we are clear on the tasks we have in front of us to meet your expectations and make sure no one is left behind. We are already in the process of executing key actions and programs we believe will make a difference for you and your communities. I want to share some of them with you.

Last week, we released information on the new functionality in our VESTA® 9-1-1 Next Generation Call Handling solution. These include additional Console Templates, enhanced Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) Features and Controls, a new Queue Display, enhanced Auto Attendant functionality and the VESTA® 9-1-1 Heads-Up Display solution. We are eager for you to experience them and you can get a first look in our VESTA video. For more detail on the benefits to your center, plan to participate in next month's webinar.

And there's more!

We have a new release of our VESTA® Analytics solution that includes functionality for the MagIC™ Data Repository and database migration, as well as support for SQL Server 2014. Our VESTA Analytics Roundup webinar series, starting March 9, will train you on a critical topic - how to make your data work for you. We have over 200 people registered for the upcoming March 9 session and look forward to having you with us.

Speaking of education, we are proud to announce the opening of our new VESTA 9-1-1 training center in our Brentwood, TN, office. Education is a cornerstone to all we do, and we take seriously the training you receive. Last year, as an example, we trained more than 400 Channel Partner technicians, and our training specialists traveled to over 500 PSAPs to lead more than 2,000 classes for 6,000+ Public Safety professionals. The new facility in Brentwood, just 15 minutes from the Nashville International Airport, along with our facility in Temecula, CA, offers you the best and most comprehensive training services in Public Safety communications.

One of the reasons our training is so successful is because of the people. Meet your training team, whom many of you know. Together, they have over 80 years of Public Safety training experience. It is through their commitment and dedication that we are strengthening public safety communications. Trainer Corey Jacobson says it for us best: "When a student, brand new to 9-1-1, says at the end of our two-week class how confident they are in servicing the VESTA equipment - that means a lot. I am proud to be a part of Public Safety."

We have a busy and exciting year ahead, and I hope to see many of you in the coming months.

In closing, as you have heard me say time and again, our goal is to see our work and services through your eyes. What is critical to you matters to us. Let's continue building a future that places Public Safety first. We all belong and we all believe.

Never hesitate to contact me. I am always delighted to hear from you.
