Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1)

MAXIMIZING THE VALUE OF NEXT GENERATION 9-1-1

How do we maximize the value of NG9-1-1 beyond what Next Generation offers from a technical perspective? In other words - how do we ensure the needs of Calltakers in the Next Generation PSAP are met so we do indeed gain the true value of NG9-1-1?

  • Hear from our own Jeff Gillan why a step-by-step approach provides a foundation for a well laid out plan that complies with NENA guidelines
  • Learn how to time your investments in NG9-1-1 and see measurable service improvements with each investment
  • Learn how Next Generation information affects your work flow and discover the tools you will need to adjust
  • Get your questions answered, like - "What is really critical for a PSAP to pay attention to? What are the priorities? How do I begin to think about work flow?"

NINE STEPS TO NEXT GENERATION 9-1-1

In this three-part series we show PSAPs how to "Clear the fog" and move to the i3 environment in a way that makes sense for your center and your budget. We layout the steps, simply and logically, that are necessary to migrate from legacy to Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1). We also present the activities associated with each step so you have a pragmatic way to approach NG9-1-1 implementation from a planning and an investment perspective.

Overall Objective of the 3-Part Series

  • Provide PSAPs the information to develop a manageable strategy and a clear path to NG9-1-1
  • Break the overwhelming aspects of full Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) into logical steps
  • Define the discrete phases that must occur with identifiable activities and benefits
  • Identify how investments can be timed with measureable service improvements
  • Pinpoint how the preliminary steps naturally progress into full deployment
  • Spotlight how each step can deliver incremental value and builds on previous investments

In our first session,
we looked at the first 3 steps in the 9 step process which are the foundation for the NG9-1-1 engine.

  • CPE Migration to be NG9-1-1 Ready
  • Level 1 Data = Text-to-911, EIDD* (when finalized)
  • Selective Router Replacement - Carrier Transition, Tabular Routing

In our second session,
we took a deeper dive and examined:

  • Enhanced Policy Routing Capabilities & Regional
  • Inter-PSAP System Communications (transfer, data sharing)
  • Level 2 Data, Medium bandwidth images and video files

In our final session,
we took a look at:

  • GIS Services
  • Geospatial routing
  • Level 3 Data, High bandwidth applications, streaming video
  • And we will lay out the activities to complete with each of these steps and provide recommendations to keep you moving forward and avoid confusion
  • Plus, due to so many requests, we will do a review of the i3 Call Flow, expanding it a bit more from what we covered in Session 2.

Our goal is to make the migration to NG9-1-1 as easy for you as possible and help you "clear the fog." After watching the webinar series you can download Clear the Fog - A Fresh Look to Help You Create Your Plan for NG9-1-1. This document offers a new way to think about how to move from where you are today to the i3 environment in a way that makes sense for your center and your budget. The checklists from each session which are simple tools help you plan for NG9-1-1 and for budgeting upcoming changes

THE TOP NOTIFICATION BEST PRACTICES FOR A PUBLIC SAFETY EMERGENCY

As you know, Emergency Notification technology is a key component within your toolset for responding to public safety emergencies. Many emergency managers adopt a three-phased approach for managing public safety emergencies (prepare, respond, recover)

  • In the preparation phase, our solutions are used to deliver pro-active information to the population in order to help them stay safe if a crisis occurs
  • In the response phase, our solutions are used to quickly and accurately send critical information to those in harm's way
  • In the recovery phase, they can provide important follow-up information and aid in the recovery process

This training provides best practices and emphasizes the need to adopt a holistic perspective toward your emergency notification program.
